CLASSICAL BALLET CONSERVATORY
At Classical Ballet Conservatory, we uphold high standards of teaching, etiquette, and discipline. A consistent dress code helps teachers see each dancer’s alignment clearly, supports focused learning, and strengthens the sense of unity within every class.
CLEAR ALIGNMENT
Fitted dancewear allows teachers to see a dancer’s lines, positioning, and progress.
FOCUSED LEARNING
Secure hair and well-kept attire reduce distractions and support concentration in class.
CLASS UNITY
Dressing the part helps dancers feel connected, prepared, and respectful of the art form.
ATTIRE REQUIREMENTS
Ages 3–6
Pink, lavender, or black leotard; pink tights; pink ballet shoes; and black tap shoes. We recommend tap shoes with velcro or elastic closures unless your dancer can tie their own shoes. Skirts are welcome when pre-attached to the leotard.
Ages 7+
Black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink canvas ballet shoes, and tan jazz shoes. Dancers with darker skin may choose pink tights or tights that match their skin tone. Foot undies are welcome, though jazz shoes may be needed for performances. Pointe dancers may wear a ballet skirt during pointe. Cold-weather warm-ups must be form-fitting and black or pink.
Boys
White, gray, or black form-fitting t-shirt or tank; black form-fitting shorts, pants, or tights; black canvas ballet shoes; and tan jazz shoes or foot undies.
STUDIO CARE
HAIR
All dancers’ hair must be secured away from the face and neck. Shorter hair should be pinned back, including for male dancers with hair long enough to fall into their eyes. Hair longer than chin length must be styled in a secure ballet bun or a similarly close-to-the-head style.
HYGIENE & COMFORT
Please ensure dancewear is washed regularly and that deodorant is used to maintain a comfortable studio environment. Underwear should not be visible under a leotard; tights are designed to serve as a dancer’s base layer. During menstruation, black period underwear or internal products are recommended to support discreet, confident participation in class and performances.
